A Mason Jar Magic: Crafting Your Own Potent Cannabutter

by: Denmen Sterling

Embarking on a journey to create your own Cannabutter can be an adventure in itself, and we’ve got a method that brings a touch of magic to the process. The use of a humble mason jar not only streamlines the preparation but also adds an extra layer of discretion.

Decarboxylation Dance: Preheat the oven to 240°F, and carefully weigh coarsely ground cannabis flower for a milder dose or cannabis concentrate for a potent kick. Place the chosen ingredient into a sealed pint-sized mason jar and let it perform its decarboxylation dance in the oven for 40 minutes. The result? Activated THC is ready to join the buttery party.

Infusion Elegance: Once the jar has cooled to the touch, reduce the oven temperature to 170°F. Pour melted butter into the jar, stir to combine, and seal it up again. If you’re using concentrate, give it a gentle scrape with a silicone spatula to ensure an even mix. Back into the oven, it goes for an infusion session lasting 2.5 hours.

Strain or Stir: After the infusion, let it cool until the jar is safe to handle. If you’ve chosen the flower route, strain the melted butter through a fine mesh sieve into a clean container. For concentrate enthusiasts, a good stir is all that’s needed to blend it seamlessly. As it cools, watch the magic happen as the liquid and milkfats naturally separate and then reincorporate into a velvety Cannabutter.

Whether you’re seeking a gentle lift or a potent punch, this mason jar method lets you tailor your Cannabutter experience, ensuring that every spread, dollop, or drizzle is infused with your desired level of magic.
